National Agenda for Unity, Democracy and Freedom in Ethiopia

If I ask you why the TPLF is still in power for the last 25 years, most of you will definitely agree on ONE main reason. That reason is lack of a national agenda of unity, freedom and democracy for Ethiopia. If I ask why this important national agenda hasn’t been created, the definite response is that the oppositions have failed to deliver this very important duty to create a peaceful, free and democratic Ethiopia. In fact, two major reasons are being used to justify the shortcomings of the oppositions. The first reason is that the oppositions do not trust each other and spend their resources and influence to fight amongst themselves, not the regime in power. The second reason is that the regime is working 24/7 to undermine and destroy opposition organizations and initiatives to bring different political groups together. Whatever the case maybe, it’s the duty of the opposition forces to create an opposition coalition and defend it at all costs.

The organizational structure of the new opposition coalition should include peaceful, uprising and military wings. Oppositions parties like Blue party and Medrek will aggressively continue their peaceful struggle without engaging in any violent activities. Organizations like the Ethiopian Youth National movement should continue organizing the youth covertly and try to get rid of the regime through clandestine activities. Armed opposition forces like Arbegnoch Ginbot 7 should unite with other military groups and get rid of the TPLF regime militarily.

All these different forces should be governed by an organization that will enjoy the direct and/or indirect participation and support of all these forces. The name of this umbrella organization shall be the Ethiopian National Transitional Government. Its offices will stretch from neighboring countries to North America and Europe. It will serve as a legitimate transitional government that will represent the Ethiopian people until a free and democratic government is created inside Ethiopia. A system of government that comes out of the participation of different political groups, civic organizations and the people inside and outside of the country will be the government of the people, by the people, for the people. A new, democratic, just and prosperous Ethiopia will be born. Our sacrifice will not be in vain.

Ethiopian National Transitional Council (ENTC), Ethiopian People’s Congress for United Struggle (Shengo), Ethiopian Youth National Movement (EYNM) and United Ethiopian Muslims Peaceful Movement Support Group (UEM-PMSG) will hold private and public meetings in Washington, DC from July 2 to July 3 on the effort of forming an all-inclusive unified force that should lead the struggle for freedom, Justice and democracy. Be part of the solution!
